Hello Friend!

Fall is here and I hope you already had the chance to get all the pumpkin spice lattes, cookies, ravioli and more.  Autumn is a favorite season and with no doubt, it brings cooler weather, gorgeous foliage and the chance to update or create new spaces in our homes.

Do you remember our Mudroom Organization for Small Spaces post from 2 months ago?  The feedback we received was amazing and since then, we decided to document our house projects to share here with you guys every other month.  Our Instagram friends were blown away by the transformation; we received so many compliments, messages and even direct questions for my husband who is truly the one doing all the hard work, one of you even named him as Mr. Sort Toss Repeat (I thought that was so clever).  While they are house projects, we are of course making the new spaces beautiful, functional and organized.

Powder Room Vanity

In this month’s post, I’m sharing a new space in our home we renovated: the powder room.  When we bought our house, we were amazed at how clean and well maintained it has been kept for more than 30 years, the house was built in 1982.  As you will be able to see in the before photos, the powder room had the original toilet, vanity, sink and floor from the 80’s; immaculately clean and well kept, however it was time for an update and renovation.  We wanted the room to be brighter, modern and more functional for the under the sink organization.

After so much research and Pinterest saves, I was most certain that I wanted either an accent wall or floor of the powder room.  I absolutely fell in love with the Bayona Deco Porcelain Tile and at first I wanted it for the floor but when we saw it in person we didn’t love it so much.  Then we decided to use it as a backsplash accent wall and it was the best decision ever.  The accent wall is so inviting and gives the pop effect we wanted for this room.  For the flooring we went with the Pearl Veincut Polished Ceramic Tile which is very neutral and suttle for the small powder room.  Mr. Sort Toss Repeat did all the tile work for this project, which came out amazing and very professional (yes, we saved so much money on labor but now have all the tools for cutting all kinds of tile).

The next task was to find a vanity big enough for the space, which was very limited, only 24” wide.  We found the perfect size at Lowe’s, the allen + roth Hamburg Bathroom Vanity had the right storage solution for the measurements and came with the sink, marble top and brushed gold hardware.  The display at the store also had the Jacuzzi Duncan Brushed Bathroom Sink Faucet and made it easy for us to buy because it paired so well together.  The vanity might be small but the shelf and drawer at the bottom add so much valuable space when organizing a small under the sink bathroom space.

Now that the floor, accent wall and vanity are done, it was time to find the right size mirror and light fixture, this was the hardest part because we just couldn’t agree (remember, I’m the undecisive one).  For a few weeks, I added a couple of lights on our Amazon chart and couldn’t decide on one, but finally hit purchase now on the JONATHAN Metal Shade Vanity Lighting and added the Bathroom Brush Gold 3-Piece Accessories Set to the order.  Both pieces arrived in 2 days and were perfect for the powder room.  The mirror was such a great find too, while I was at Hobby Lobby purchasing vinyl for label orders, I saw the Black Matte Oval Metal Wall Mirror and thought how awesome it would look in the powder room and to my surprise it was the perfect fit for the space and it was 50% off at the store.

The toilet was an easy pick.  The Kohler Highline Curve White Toilet from Lowe’s is the one we chose.  I love the city of Paris art, the frames we already had from years past and decided on a Parisian gallery wall.  I printed 2 cute Parisian balcony blossoms to create a small gallery wall.

The under the sink organization was a must for the powder room.  We used all iDesign organizing products to contain the cleaning supplies, wipes, hand towels and feminine products.  Here is a list of the products we used:

Divided tote for all the cleaning essentials

Divided cabinet organizer holding wipes

Can Organizer holding hand towels, the opening in this bins is perfect for easy access

Turntable for all the feminine products

As you can see, getting organized in a small space only requires a few products and a system that works.  The vanity has the perfect drawer to store rolls of toilet paper and the acrylic products we used still allow for the backpack accent wall to peek through.
