pre-holiday + organizing
Hi friend,
Is it too early to start planning for the holidays? I hope not, because the earlier we prepare, the more we enjoy the most wonderful time of the year. Besides, time is flying, and as soon as you know it, the holidays will be upon us.
Before I share the 3 things that I will do to get ready for the holiday season, let me tell you about something I heard during a presentation last week. Actually, I was the presenter. I spoke to a group of women entrepreneurs about my journey as a small business owner and how my lifestyle changed after getting organized.
While explaining organization systems and the importance of maintenance to keep a space tidy, I said something that I tell my clients all the time: "Once a bin or basket is full, that's an indication to edit and declutter". Then I heard someone from the group say, "When the basket is full, I get a bigger basket". This stuck with me, and I know there are so many people out there who think the same way. What I failed to say is that no matter how big the basket or bin is, it won't help get any space organized.
I wonder if you are Team Edit or Team Bigger Basket? Surprisingly, I'm both, but if you know me, you know I love to declutter. However, if I see a need for a bigger basket or storage solution, I will go for it too, of course, after tossing out everything no longer needed.
Now for the 3 pre-holiday things I will be doing to stay organized:
Schedule important dates: Add key dates on the calendar, such as events, due dates, travel, and days off.
Write down a checklist: List tasks to accomplish before the holidays, such as shopping for gifts, decorating, decluttering, and preparing meals.
Budget planning: Set a budget for gifts, food, and activities. This will help me prioritize my spending and avoid overspending during the busy season. - This will be my challenge; wish me luck!
What are the pre-holiday things you are looking forward to doing? Always feel free to hit reply and share with me.
If you or someone you know is looking to get organized this holiday season, make sure to contact me to book a complimentary consultation.
